Neuropsychiatry of Crime

Eurocentric approaches to reducing criminal recidism are both ineffective and cruel while other cultures around the world have proven far more effective in this regard. Criminal recidism needs to be recognized as a neuropsychiatric problem of antisocial personality that requires both medical and social intervention.

1. Exorcism in Secular Cloisters

Taboos in Human cultures around the world serve the function of maintaining social control and culturally Western taboos are certainly no exception in this regard. Western culture literally believes that almost every perceived or actual societal problem ought to be resolved by means of secular cloisters. Crime is thus in Para-Christian manner still regarded as a moral problem that needs to be resolved by means of moral correction. Prisons are constructed as redemptive secular cloisters (as are also schools, hospitals, nation states, nuclear families, concentration camps etc.) intended to exorcise ‘evil’ from the midst of Para-Christian civilization.  Exorcism in secular cloisters is therefore regarded as the very vehicle of “secular” (i.e. Para-Christian) salvation.

The two existing approaches to the question of how to relate to career criminals are really incredibly naïve. The first and hegemonic approach assumes that recidivist criminals simply suffer from a moral deficit and so spending time in the secular cloisters known as prisons is supposed to make them more moral and therefore non-criminal. The only other existing approach assumes that criminals are victims of immoral capitalist society (specifically classism) and so that criminal recidivism is simply an outcome of and even understandable reaction to capitalist oppression. This of course ignores that crime was and remains extremely widespread even in Communist societies such as the former Soviet Union and today’s Cuba with typically vast prison populations and essentially institutionalized kleptocracy.

Prisons serve indeed as an effective deterrent for non-criminals, yet are completely failed in deterring recidivist criminals. There are however documented social structures in various human traditional cultures around the world that tend to be far more effective in deterring criminal recidivism, including notoriously so sharia state law.

2. Antisocial Personality Disorders

Most recidivist criminals suffer from antisocial personality disorders which make them easily bored and therefore typically in search of emotional peaks such as drugs, promiscuity and “bold” criminal activities. Anti-Social personality disorders are most commonly known as psychopathy when appearing in legal adults while for legal minors the term ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is in predominant use.

There is strong correlation between antisocial personality disorders with not only criminal recidivism but also with heavy drug abuse. Below national average IQ among persons with antisocial personality disorder even more strongly correlate with criminal recidivism and heavy drug abuse. High IQ psychopathic persons tend to be law-abiding yet still engage in antisocial behaviors that are unlikely to lead to criminal prosecution.

Among adult indigenous Europeans are about 1% of women psychopaths while 6-7% of indigenous European men are psychopaths. The United States maintains crime statistics as based on what is known as “race” although this in fact mostly refers to anatomically and cognitively quite distinctive multiple species of the Homo genus. Hispanics in the US are thus on average 5 times more criminal than are so called indigenous Europeans and African-Americans are on average 8 times more criminal than are indigenous Europeans. However, the vast gender gap appears universally in the Homo genus with males always being on average far more criminal than females in all living species and subspecies of the Homo genus. There is significant statistical variation regarding the frequency of largely or entirely hereditary medical conditions as comparing different human taxa and so the frequency of antisocial personality disorders also varies greatly between the various living species of the Homo genus.

It is generally believed that personality disorders cannot be treated. However, tribal cultures typically have traditionally had effective communal mechanisms (i.e. social control) that ensure that criminal recidivism was typically not really a serious problem. Western culture thus maintains ineffective mechanisms for managing antisocial personality disorders while there are indeed traditional tribal cultures which with much success manage to minimize the social problems associated with antisocial personality disorders. This clearly shows that antisocial personality disorders can indeed be highly effectively managed despite the consistent structural failure of European and European-style so called “civilization” in this regard.

3. Career of Crime

Prisons are notorious for enabling criminals to share skills and methods as well as allowing criminals to form networks, including for the purpose of organized crime. Prisons are indeed the very place where young criminals literally learn criminal recidivism. This is long since well known, yet prisons have so far not even in liberal-democratic open societies been comprehensively supplanted by measures that in contrast are effective and ethical. In fact, the liberal-democratic United States is infamous for its extremely high and racially extremely unbalanced incarceration rate which is very much indicative of the failure of US society to facilitate appropriate opportunity even for persons with relatively low IQs who are instead structurally stigmatized in substandard government schools.

Children around the world are effectively taught the values of crime (i.e. selfishness and hypocrisy) in school. These secular cloisters therefore de facto socially reward legal minors who adopt those very behaviors. Criminal recidivism is certainly not biological destiny but is in modern society typically the outcome of a combination of inherent cognitive functional variation in personality and a structural matrix of social construction. Criminal recidivism is thus typically far from an automatic outcome of ADHD in children. Yet it is clear that the career of crime starts already at an early age in school. Antisocial personality disorders hence tragically thrive under the societal hegemony of secular cloisters.

4. Feminist Neuropsychiatry

Personalities are essentially forms of neurological variation that cause the nervous system to react differently in different individuals. So called personality disorders are part of this very spectrum of functional variation. The spectrum of personality is known to also exist in non-human persons such as among Rat persons and so Capitalism can certainly not be scapegoated for the existence of the neurological spectrum of functional variation in personality and therefore also what are known as so called ‘personality disorders’.

Male career criminals can however become law-abiding due to natural decrease in the individual production of testosterone whether as typically in the twenties or forties. One of the fundamental problems with masculinity is that it is considered normal as the problem of males brutally oppressing females is usually a matter of excessive production of testosterone. This would become more obvious if “manhood” were to be formally recognized as a mental disorder rather than as of now a state of socially constructed so called normality. It is therefore very peculiar indeed and symptomatic of existing patriarchal intellectual hegemony that pervasive sexist behaviors are still not officially recognized as mental disorders.

Antisocial personality disorders are thus typically an outcome of excessive and pathological production of hormones and can in many cases be successfully treated by carefully medically managing hormonal production as is in fact already done for transsexuals. Other medical approaches such as gene therapy and tranquilizing medication and should be effective as well. Personality disorders have a high degree of heredity (75% heredity for psychopathy) and are apparently usually genetically latent in chromosomal females so that a non-psychopathic female with a psychopathic father may risk giving birth to a son who may grow up to become a psychopathic person. Preventive gene therapy should therefore be used with regard to antisocial personality disorder already at the time of early human embryos such as through embryo selection and genetic modification of early embryos.

5. Sentencing

Criminal recidivism is therefore for the most part a neuropsychiatric problem and serial and pathologically criminal recidivists should therefore be sentenced to compulsory medical treatment and not as now typically to time in prison. Prisons are essentially a form of prolonged torture and are as such cruel, illegitimate, unethical and unacceptable indeed. Prisons must therefore be universally abolished in being prohibited and recognized as reprehensible indeed and formally legally classified as a form of torture under international law.

Relatively large territorial reserves should instead be established for those career criminals who do not sufficiently well respond to medical intervention. Territorial reserves should be democratically ruled municipalities and should definitely be encouraged to become economically productive. Inhabitants would be able to use the Internet but their access to electronic communications including the Internet would be functionally restricted with regard to interactive communication in order so as to prevent criminal activity such as online fraud. Inhabitants should however be free to electronically communicate with each other between territorial reserves for criminals around the world. Territorial reserves for career criminals should importantly not be gender-segregated although all residents should be forcibly surgically sterilized as determined in sentencing so as to prevent all procreation as persons with antisocial personality disorders are usually highly inappropriate as parents and must also not be allowed to further disseminate their socially detrimental genomes. Territorial reserves for criminals should crucially have no unnecessary restrictions in place beyond preventing criminal activity such as through electronic communications with the regular world.

Territorial reserves should have their own laws and their own respective elected local governments. Society in territorial reserves for criminals should have a tribal structure which is known to be effective in preventing antisocial behaviors in traditional cultures around the world. A prospective new inhabitant of criminal reserves should be given choice as to which territorial reserve he would like to live in as well choose “a tribe” there to which he would have to formally declare loyalty. An inhabitant should therefore in most cases be able to relocate from one reserve to another if he so wishes. Inhabitants who persist with serious crimes in the territorial reserve may need to be relocated to special reserves for such inhabitants who therefore don’t submit to tribal authority.

Much crime is associated with drug abuse and addicts of heavy drugs such as heroin usually suffer from antisocial personality disorders whose resulting boredom is what attracts them to heavy drugs in the first place. Early medical intervention with regard to antisocial personality disorder is therefore an effective means for preventing drug addiction as well. Some heavy drug addicts who do not respond to such treatment may need their own territorial reserves, yet most heavy drug addicts who do not respond to medical treatment should simply be provided with appropriate medication or else individually be provided with illegal drugs free of charge as has been successfully done in e.g. Portugal. There is furthermore little to no proliferation risk if a heroin injection is administered by a trusted and well-paid nurse.

It is really vital that recidivist criminals sentenced to deportation to territorial reserves should also be sentenced to permanent, surgical sterilization so as to prevent their genomes from proliferating as psychopathic males tend indeed to be extremely promiscuous in an antisocial manner and leave children behind with multiple mothers in less than happy circumstances. However, it is important to understand that pathologically recidivist criminals are essentially ill and should therefore be sentenced to compulsory medical intervention and not to punishment as territorial reserves should not be a matter of punishment and an inhabitant should be completely free to leave his territorial reserve once he if and once he is successfully medically cured.

Yet it is true that prisons are highly effective in deterring non-psychopaths from perpetrating serious crime and so the effective and moral way of deterring ordinary citizens from committing crimes is rather public humiliation which should be administered in cases of mentally healthy criminal offenders. This may take the form of sentencing a criminal offender to walk through the streets of his hometown for several hours with a highly visible sign indicating what crime that he has committed. There is no doubt that this will be highly effective in deterring ordinary citizens from committing crimes. However, generally lowering the production of testosterone in male citizens with excessive hormonal production will be highly effective as a measure of preventing not only crime generally but also sexist behaviors whether criminal or non-criminal in nature.

A person who is ill must not be punished for being ill as doing so is clearly unenlightened medievalist behavior. Those who sentence fellow humans to psychologically cruel incarceration are clearly themselves callous and extremely cruel indeed and are in most cases probably much more so than the criminals whom they sentence to the medievalist torment that is incarceration in prison. The difference is that non-psychopaths will typically only act cruelly in ways that are allowed under law while criminal psychopaths may typically engage in cruel behavior in contravention of social norms.

6. Appreciating and Respecting Cognitive Diversity

Many cognitive conditions considered and diagnosed as ‘pathological’ by psychiatrists may turn out highly beneficial indeed in a democratically eugenic society as many conditions currently considered pathological such as autism are in principle highly individually useful for society when combined with high IQ and may therefore indeed turn out extremely useful in societies with significantly raised average genotypic IQs. Therefore one must exercise great caution with regard to reducing various psychological, psychiatric and neuropsychiatric conditions from the gene pool. Persons with antisocial personality disorders must not be stigmatized, oppressed or demeaned for their respective cognitive functional variations. In fact, cognitive diversity is still largely an untapped source of human capital even in developed economies and will turn out extremely beneficial and valuable indeed in a democratically eugenic society that successfully manages to significantly raise average genotypic IQ. However, the frequency of antisocial personality disorders is currently too high and therefore needs to be reduced in a democratically eugenic society.
